When to use the Item Volume Field

1. item is part of a series or set cataloged all on one BIB record.

2. item is part of a multi-part unit, as in a DVD series, or single title film with “bonus disc”. see b26951721, b26443417

3. item is missing a component or has some other characteristic that must be noted, such as a missing map, or a disc missing from a book with cd. see b22002443, b2495150x


Note: When the bib record uses a volume number in either the 245 title field or in a 490/8xx field, DO NOT use a item volume field. see b26452625, b26795887, b24096994
